THERE was Vale success as Evesham’s St Egwin’s Middle hosted the Butterfly Table Tennis England Schools’ Team Championships' county age group stages.

The event produced a girls' championship double for Blackminster Middle, Evesham, and a boys' brace for St Nicholas Middle, Pinvin.

Blackminster beat St Egwin's 16-14 on countback after a 4-4 draw in the girls' under 13s final.

Pippa Thomas won for holders St Egwin's but Anna Blakely, Matilda Neale, Lexii Clarke and Ellie Pass proved too strong.

Newcomers St Nicholas won the boys' under 13s event by beating St Egwin's 8-0, runners-up Blackminster 7-1 and Droitwich High 6-2.

Leo Rudge, Josh Sanders, Tom March, Alfie Broughton and Alex Meadows starred for the victors.

Blackminster's Katie Fisher, Phoebe Allcock, Elmarie Lourens and Tia Hawthorn beat younger opponents from Littleton First 8-0 to claim the girls' under 11s crown. 

St Nicholas beat Blackminster 5-3 in the decider to take the boys' under 11s title despite their number two player retiring with an injury.

Aaron Shariff, Linden Geldart, Jack Whittington, Will Allchin, Oli Cameron and Billy Black made up the team.
