WORCESTER Athletic beat the wet weather and Malvern’s Express Falcons to progress in the McDonald’s Worcester and District League’s Baylis Cup.

With most Worcester City Council pitches ruled out due to the conditions, Athletic saw off Falcons 3-2 in the first round at Nunnery Wood Sports Complex through a Lee Seldon hat-trick.

Northside also went through with a 4-2 success at Colwall Wanderers.

Premier Division title-chasers Perrywood continued their FA Sunday Cup national run with a 5-3 extra-time home victory over Attenborough Cavaliers from Nottinghamshire.

Cavaliers, who play in the Long Eaton Sunday League, hit back from 2-0 down to 2-2 before hosts Wood clinched the second-round tie at Neel Park.

Pershore Town winger James Baldwin bagged a brace with Ashley Bloore, Joe Bates and Barry Hughes also on target.

Wood now host OJM from Oldbury in the third round on Sunday, December 8.

Thomas Doughty, Andrew Woodward and Richard Gardner helped Hornets to a 3-0 home win over New Inn FC Claines in the Worcester league’s Southam Trophy.

In Division Two, Shae McNally’s double for Kempsey United saw off Droitwich Spa Rangers 2-1 and sent the village side up to second in the table.

Alin Gorovei and Marcel Grigore netted in Gruppo Select’s 2-0 triumph at Lower Teme and Martley Reserves in Division Three.

All other games were postponed.
