PERSHORE swimmers battled hard at the Nuneaton and District Junior League final to finish fifth.

They scored 154 points to end up behind winners Hinckley on 213, Rugby on 191, Solihull on 189 and Lichfield on 174 but ahead of Kingsbury Aquarius on 148.

Pershore coach Marie Porter said: “It was a great team performance from our junior swimmers against some very tough opposition.

"There were some excellent individual performances. It was a great way to start the season.”

Nine year old girls Fiona Taylor and Emily Gleaves were third and fifth individually respectively with Jessica Cosnett and Charlotte Fairchild adding to the relays.

Archie Day and Kyle Bass were successful for the boys with first, second and third places individually while Tom Harrison and Zachary Chatron-Michaud joined the relays.

The 10 year olds put in solid swims with Katie Saunders third and fourth, Anya Wood fourth and Sophia Lawson sixth.

Aleksandra Kelly assisted in both medley and freestyle relays for fourth and sixth places.

Toby Marchant was second and fourth, Tom Porter second and Will O’Sullivan sixth with Bass and Day helping bag second spots in both relays.

Millie Thomas had some strong under 11s swims for second and third with Mia Underwood second and Emma Taylor sixth.

Lottie Styler helped the relays to second and fourth positions.

Esteban Chatron-Michaud finished fourth and sixth, Porter fourth and Marchant third place with O’Sullivan and Nathaniel Bracewell adding to the relays for fifth and sixth spots.

For the 12 and under age group Natalija Kelly was second and fifth, Philippa Fairchild sixth and Thomas fourth.

Philippa Taylor and Tally Brown helped the relays to fifth and sixth place.

For the boys Jack Porter was fourth, Josh Heeks second and fifth and Toby Stanley sixth.

Charlie Deary swam in both relays for sixth positions.
