EVESHAM'S Helen Russell claimed the British Quadrathlon Race Series title for the third year in a row after a win at the Shrewsbury event.
The series consisted of five races over the season with the best three counting towards the crown.
Russell had already scored maximum points at Dearne Valley and Box End in June before the Shrewsbury success confirmed the title.
The sprint format saw the athletes swim 500 metres and kayak 4.2 kilometres in the River Severn and cycle 23km before finally running 5km.
Russell, supported by the Rivers Evesham Gifted and Talented Scheme, clocked one hour 40 minutes 35 seconds ahead of Frome's Jacqueline Davies in 1.44.01.
The Vale athlete said: “It’s a great feeling to take the series title for the third year in a row and I’m really grateful to everyone that has supported me over the last three years.”
Russell also won the British Championship overall in 2019 and the World Championship in her age group.
