EVESHAM United lost 2-0 in the FA Cup first qualifying round at home to higher-ranked Dorchester Town on Sunday.
The Robins started well with Jordan Sangha twice going close and Lee Chilton firing wide.
Dorchester got into the game and began to threaten only for Chilton to force a fine save from keeper Hutchings following Brian Smikle’s pass.
But on 41 minutes the visitors went ahead with Tom Bath’s bullet header from a corner in front of a crowd of 320 at the Jubilee Stadium.
Evesham keeper Lochlan Robertson kept them in it during the second half with a string of saves.
But the hosts so nearly levelled on 79 minutes when Sangha hit the post with a strike from 30 yards.
However, it was not to be and a close-range finish from Dorchester’s Bath in the dying moments put the tie to bed.
The Robins matched the Southern League Premier Division South visitors for long periods.
Evesham host Daventry Town in the Southern League Cup on Wednesday (7.45pm) before entertaining Winchester City in Division One South on Saturday (3pm).
