WORCESTER Warriors’ squad inspired the next generation of rugby players when they attended the club’s annual Malvern Residential Camp.

The week-long camp was attended by 135 boys who were given a first-hand view of life as a Gallagher Premiership rugby player.

After watching director of rugby Alan Solomons, head coach Rory Duncan and other members of the coaching team put the squad through their paces, it was then the turn of the youngsters to get some tuition from Warriors aces.

With players including Jono Kitto, Ted Hill and Melani Nania taking charge of their position groups, the boys were given expert advice as they aim for a place in the Warriors Player Pathway.

After nearly an hour of training, which took the form of kicking, lineout and scrum tutorials, the players then signed autographs and posed for selfies.

Warriors camp co-ordinator James Taylor was thrilled with the input from the Warriors first-team.

“The camp has gone very well with the boys developing their skills through various conditioned games and skills zones,” he said.

“They have focused on their handling, decision making and evasion skills as well as sessions on tackle technique and ball presentation.

“We are fortunate to have had support from first-team coaches Johan Pretorious and Omar Mouneimne to give the boys an insight into specific non-rugby aspects that the senior players incorporate into their week.”
