HOOKER Isaac Miller demonstrated his “class” whenever he played in blue and gold, according to his former Worcester Warriors team-mate Jack Singleton.

Edinburgh-born Miller joined Warriors from Championship club London Scottish last summer but made just six appearances in an injury-hit first season at Sixways.

After damaging his collarbone in Worcester’s pre-season opener against Benetton in Treviso, Miller missed the first three months of the Gallagher Premiership campaign.

The 25-year-old made his competitive debut in the European Challenge Cup defeat at Pau in December and made five more outings off the bench.

Despite limited game-time Miller managed to impress director of rugby Alan Solomons enough to secure a new contract.

But Solomons was not alone in his appreciation as Singleton also became an admirer of Miller when challenging for the number two jersey at Warriors and seeing him in action.

“Isaac had that injury to his collarbone but whenever I have watched him play he was class,” Singleton said.

“I have been most impressed by his work-rate and the energy he brings.

“When I watched the A League game against Northampton, I didn’t hear him stop talking for the whole 80 minutes.

“I thought he had a fantastic game.

“If he can bolt on things to that I think he will be a good player for sure.”

With Niall Annett out injured and Joe Taufete’e on international duty with USA, Miller landed a spot among the replacements for Warriors’ Premiership clash at Harlequins in February.

After playing the final four minutes against Quins Miller was selected again for Worcester’s basement battle at Newcastle Falcons.

But Miller had a day to forget at Kingston Park as he went awry at several lineouts.

Singleton who was forced off just 13 minutes into the match to present Miller with his opportunity sympathised with the Scot.

“I think he had less than 10 minutes against Quins the week before so to get thrown a little bit in the deep end is incredibly tough to deal with in such a pressurised position and pressurised game as well,” Singleton said.

“But everyone has their off days. I had plenty of them.

“It’s about how you bounce back.”

Singleton will join Saracens next season but reckons Worcester are in good shape at hooker without mentioning new signing Matt Moulds who has arrived from Super Rugby outfit Blues.

“Niall is brilliant, Joe is an international and Isaac is coming through as well,” Singleton added.

“There is also young Beck (Cutting). He is finishing up at university so he will be full-time next year. The hookers that Warriors have got are brilliant.”
