WORCESTER Warriors' new signing Melani Nanai will head to Sixways with an accolade under his belt.

The Blues full-back, who can also play on the wing, claimed the players’ player of the year award at the New Zealand-based Super Rugby outfit.

Nanai boasts 64 caps for Auckland's Blues since his debut in 2015.

He ended the season with eye-catching statistics despite the club missing out on the quarter-finals.

Nanai carried the ball further than any other player in Super Rugby’s regular season with 1,240 metres.

He was second in Super Rugby’s top carries table with 178 and joint third off-loader with 22.

Nanai beat 60 defenders and made 22 clean breaks alongside five tries.

He now turns his attention to the Mitre 10 Cup before his first season with Warriors.
