EVESHAM’S youngest rowers won medals at the prestigious Blenheim Junior Regatta.

Despite strong blustery winds and strong opposition, all eight of the squad received a medal from a member of the Great Britain squad.

In their first race together, Euan Woodfin and Tyler Huddleston, in the J13 double sculls, won gold on the 500-metre course in one minute 52 seconds ahead of nearest rival Bishopsgate School.

Next up was the J12 quad scull with brother and sister Finn and Phoebe Warren, Will Heslington and Alex Repton coxed by Leah Saunders.

Although two of the crew were in their first competitive event and two in their second, they easily beat Marlow to take gold in 1.59.

Saunders and team-mate Harriet Empson took a silver in the girls' J13 double scull in 2.11 behind Great Marlow School.

Woodfin, Huddleston, Finn Warren and Repton, coxed by Will Heslington, battled hard in the J13 quad sculls but after mid-race equipment problems came fourth, missing a silver medal by one second.

Proud coach Ashley Ford said: “For all eight of the squad to win medals at this event was an exceptionally good performance.

"This was a hugely successful day for these young rowers with great potential for more wins during the rest of the season.”
