TWO Littleton girls represented the West Midlands at the Table Tennis England Inter-Regional finals at the University of Hertfordshire.

Beth Pye played in the under 13s team and individual events while Anna Cole was in the cadet team event in Hatfield.

Pye was paired with Anya Sompura and the duo narrowly missed out on a final place after losing 3-2 to the East in group two after beating the North West and South.

But Pye won all her singles matches with five opponents ranked higher in the national table.

Cole and Eleanor Fletcher were also in group two against the East Midlands, North West and South West.

They took some doubles games and Cole played well in her singles but the duo did not progress to the final.

In the individual event on day two, Pye was drawn in Group Five with the top two going through.

But she could not quite emulate her performance from the previous day.

Pye lost 3-2 to Darcey Brewer from the East, 3-0 to Gypsie Kay from the South West and 3-2 to Jessica Morris from the North West after leading 2-0.

Littleton club head coach Ken Baker was at the event to support the girls and said: “ I am proud of how Beth and Anna played.

“They were a credit to the club and the West Midlands.”
