MARK Owen has taken sole charge of Droitwich Spa following Wayne Oliver’s appointment onto the club’s newly-formed board.

Oliver had been in the dugout for five years alongside Owen as joint manager.

But a club statement revealed Oliver had stepped down from his managerial role to become a director at Droitwich and said: “More exciting news will follow over the coming weeks."

Owen will continue as first-team boss with the long-serving Andy Crowther joining him as player-assistant manager.

Chris Hunt will remain in his role within the management structure, while Joe Mayo-Braiden will join the team.

Mayo-Braiden will be assisting the first team and other roles within the club structure.

Droitwich are gearing up for another season in West Midlands Regional League Division One after finishing third behind Worcester Raiders and Darlaston Town.

A club spokesperson said: “These are exciting times both on and off the field and we all look forward to helping each other to fulfil these roles and help the club achieve its goals.

“More exciting news will follow over the coming weeks.”
