MOEEN Ali is closing in on 100 ODI caps for England – and is poised to reach that milestone during the forthcoming ICC World Cup.

The Worcestershire all-rounder needs to make only four more appearances to clock up three figures in 50 over cricket for his country.

Moeen made his ODI, and indeed his international debut, for England against the West Indies at North Sound in February 2014.

He opened the innings alongside century-maker Michael Lumb and scored 44.

Also part of that side were Luke Wright, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Chris Jordan, Stuart Broad and James Tredwell.

Only Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler in addition to Moeen from that team remain members of the England squad selected for the World Cup.

Moeen has remained in the ODI side since that debut in the Caribbean and been an integral part of the squad under Eoin Morgan which is currently number one in the ICC rankings.

In 96 ODIs he has scored 1691 runs at 26.01 with three centuries and five fifties at a strike rate of 103.74.

His centuries came against Sri Lanka (2014), Scotland (2015) and West Indies (2017).

Moeen has also taken 79 wickets with an economy rate of 5.26 and a best performance of 4-46 versus Australia at Old Trafford last summer.
