PERSHORE Phoenix tackled the first British Dragon Boat Racing Association national league race of the season in Worcester with a mixed bag of results.
The Defford-based club's paddlers won the city loop over 1.8 kilometres after chasing down the Thames boat.
The women's team Pershore Flyers enjoyed their first league race, finishing third over 200 metres despite having 12 paddlers compared to crews of 15 and 16.
The open team took part in four 200m races and finished third in the plate major trophy.
Results left Pershore about three quarters of the way down the leaderboard but they hope to improve on that.
The next league race is at Milton Keynes on June 1.
