A TALENTED oarsman from Evesham is set to race in The Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race on Sunday.

Patrick Sullivan, 23, is studying at Oxford University and has been selected to row in the two-seat of the Blue Boat.

The former Prince Henry’s High School pupil learnt to row at the Evesham club before moving to study earth sciences at University College London.

Sullivan rowed in the University of London top eight for four years and in 2017 represented Great Britain at the World Under 23 Rowing Championships where he was stroke man of the coxed four that won a silver medal.

He moved to Oxford in October 2018 to study for a masters in water sciences, policy and management and train with the Oxford University Boat Club.

Preparations for the race over the 6.8-kilometre course from Putney to Mortlake involve training two to three times a day and regular fixtures against some of the top clubs in the country.
