PRINCE Henry's High School's under 16s girls went agonisingly close to reaching the national finals.
The Evesham pupils competed at the regional stage of the English Schools' Butterfly Individual Table Tennis Championships at Bristol Academy.
Prince Henry's squad included Abi Ingles, Anna Cole, Sophie Arrandale, Rebecca Arrandale and Emily Grove.
They drew 4-4 (181-175 on points) with Okehampton Community College from Devon as Rebecca Arrandale and Cole secured wins.
Injury to Sophie Arrandale meant a change for Prince Henry's against Wallington High School for Girls from London but they won 5-3 thanks to Ingles, Rebecca Arrandale, Grove and Cole.
Finally, they drew 4-4 with Chelmsford High from Essex with wins for Cole, Rebecca Arrandale, Ingles and Grove.
Prince Henry's finished third behind victors Okehampton and second-placed Chelmsford on the ratio of games won and lost.
