BOSS Paul Collicutt admits polished performances are not top of his agenda as Evesham United prepare for a final push for the play-offs.

The Robins kept on track their bid for the top five with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Slimbridge on Saturday.

Few would argue United showed their fluent best but in-form striker Kane Simpson proved the difference, slotting away both decisive second-half goals.

Next up is a trip to promoted Thatcham Town on Saturday (3pm), the team defeated Evesham during the barren run on home soil that saw pressure heaped on Collicutt in October.

But having overseen improved fortunes since, the manager only has eyes for the prize.

“At this time of year getting performances is a good thing but in truth, everyone is chasing results over and above that,” said Collicutt.

“By hook or by crook you want to be turning draws into wins and defeats into draws. Picking up points is ahead of everything.

“We have 36 points still to play for and in the context of a tight league that is a lot. Saturday was all about the result and we got what we set out to.”

Defenders Linden Dovey and Kai Fisher will be available again after suspension with striker Steve Davies back from work commitments and recent recruit Toumani Sidibe back in contention.

“They all come into the equation and that is welcome, it is always tough when you are missing that many,” added Collicutt.

“We battled for the points on Saturday move on to a team that beat us on our patch earlier in the season. They won the FA Vase last season and came into this league with an awful lot of momentum.

“We know we have a tough task ahead of us, all we can do is be as positive as we can and go for the points.”
