PROP Callum Black insists Worcester Warriors will be ready to combat a “raging” Stade Francais side in the European Challenge Cup at Sixways today (1pm).

A stunning 38-27 victory over the Top 14 outfit in Paris in October laid the platform for Warriors to go on to seal a place in the knockout stages.

The Pool Two leaders will now be looking to clinch the bonus-point triumph that will guarantee them a home quarter-final.

But Black is not expecting third-placed Stade, who are unable to qualify, to roll over and believes the visitors will be fuelled by revenge.

“We have just been focused on what is ahead of us and that’s Stade,” said the 32-year-old.

“We put in a huge performance to beat them over there which many people from the outside probably didn’t think would happen.

“We know that Stade will be raging about that result and will be coming over to right a few wrongs.

“But we are prepared for that and have put a lot of work in to combat what they are going to bring.”

Stade, who won the cup in 2017, were knocked out of this year’s competition after losing three of their five games.

But the French club are fourth in the Top 14.

“They have been going well in the league and are not going to lie down,” Black said.

“They are going to come at us and be very physical and well drilled.

“They have got a very good squad so whoever they bring it is going to be a big test.

“I am sure they weren’t too chuffed about us going over there and getting a result.

“But it gave us great confidence and good momentum as we were able build on that performance and we need to back it up here.”

Black was part of the Warriors side that last reached the knockout stages in 2009, beating Brive 29-18 at Sixways in the last eight before losing 22-11 at Bourgoin in the semi-finals.

“I can remember the year before when we got to the final, losing to Bath,” said Black who returned to Warriors last summer having left the club for Ulster in 2011.

“There was a great buzz around the squad as it was something new for us and it was a competition where we could gain momentum to bring into the league.

“When you get a winning habit it really rubs off and gives you confidence so I think the cup run really helped the squad.

“We did well the year after as well.

“Although we lost in the semis it was great for the club and it is about time we did it year in year out.”

On Warriors’ chances of going on to win the competition, Black added: “You have got to take it one step at a time but we are in a great position and if we can get this home quarter-final it will be up to us.

“If we put in a good performance today then we would have taken a stepping stone to hopefully get silverware at the end of it.”
