WORCESTER City manager John Snape is set to talk to Tyler Weir about another return.

FIVE TALKING POINTS: City 5 Studley 0

AS IT HAPPENED: City 5 Studley 0

The 28-year-old full-back is a free agent after departing Gloucester City little more than two months into a contract that was due to run until the end of the season.

His exit was confirmed on Monday, 11 days after boss Chris Todd – the man who signed Weir in November – departed less than three months after taking the post. Todd did not win a league game.

It was the third time Weir had left Worcester inside 14 months with some fans adamant another comeback should not be considered.

Others understood his reasons for accepting the security of a deal with a National South outfit and when explaining his decision Weir declared he would “be back playing for Worcester” again in the future.

Snape said: “I haven’t caught up with Tyler properly yet, there have been one or two messages but nothing more.

“He has a long-standing association with the club. People say this, that and the other but it is not one I have totally got to grips with yet.

“When quality players become available we have to look at it, whether or not they have been at the club in the past.

“First of all Tyler has to make up his mind about what he wants to do. We will be speaking and it is something we may be picking up this week.

“The door is open for any player that can add something. I think Tyler enjoyed his football here and always has.

“He has wandered a few times and that is something we have to address to keep stability and things going the right way for the squad. That is something we would have a chat about.”
