STRIKER Steve Davies will continue to be used sparingly as Evesham United go in pursuit of a seventh win in nine games today.

Third-placed Robins head to Highworth Town in Southern League Division One South today (3pm) on the back of a pair of home victories over Christmas.

Both saw Kane Simpson join brothers Cory and Kye in a three-pronged attack with Davies suffering from back trouble.

And there is unlikely to be much change to the line-up with boss Paul Collicutt lauding Davies’s refreshing honesty.

“He will probably be alright to go on the bench,” said Collicutt.

“It was a bit of a tweak and hopefully we can push him a bit further in the next week or two. He came on against Melksham and did okay so hopefully it is not too serious.

“The thing I appreciated was his honesty, he said his back was playing up and that he would probably not last the 90.

“That isn’t always the case with players and at least we had a chance to plan rather than changing things during the game.”

United drew 4-4 at home to Highworth and Collicutt is wary of tricky opponents on a pitch with a “deceptive slope”.

“I don’t think Evesham has played at Highworth before, I have been there a few times in the past and it is not the easiest place to play,” he added.
