EVESHAM Rowing Club honoured four long-serving members at a boat naming ceremony.

A Janousek lightweight eight has been named the John Lomas-Sue Lomas.

John and Sue Lomas have been actively involved in the club for 40 years and for the last 25 the former has been chairman having also previously held the post of tennis captain.

Bringing experience and wisdom to the role of chairman John is active behind the scenes including chairing and participating in various committees, membership administration, club maintenance affairs and finance.

Sue was the first female tennis captain at the club and served tirelessly as welfare officer for a number of years.

The new Swift double has been named The Sextons.

Terry and Karen Sexton came to the club around 10 years ago when their son Josh started to row.

Since then he has gone on to qualify for the Oxford University lightweight eight.

Like many parents keen to help, Terry and Karen put themselves forward as volunteers.

Terry continues to maintain the club’s fleet of boats and until recently was the rowing section’s safety adviser.

Karen, an active rower, has been secretary to the rowing section committee and handles event entries and the club’s social media platform.
