EVESHAM'S St Egwin’s Middle School hosted the annual county stage of the Butterfly Table Tennis England Schools’ Team Championships.

The Littleton First School team of Katie Fisher, Emily Ward, Phoebe Allcock and Elmarie Lourens surprised their slighter older opponents from Blackminster Middle to take the girls' under 11s title 5-3.

The boys' competition saw Blackminster beat St Egwin’s 6-2 and Littleton 7-1.

St Egwin’s took the runners-up spot by defeating Littleton 5-3.

The girls' under 13s final produced a 4-4 draw between St Egwin’s and Bredon Academy.

Beth Pye starred for Bredon by winning both her matches but Bella Reid, Ciara Webb, Sophie George, Pippa Thomas and Caitlin Snell showed strength in depth and secured the win on a countback of sets 14-12.

Blackminster completed a boys' double with two crushing 8-0 wins over their opponents.

Bredon Academy just edged out St Egwin’s for runners-up spot, winning on countback 17-15 after a 4-4 draw.

For the under 16s, two strong teams from Prince Henry’s School both defeated Bromsgrove School 5-3.

Anna Cole, Abi Ingles, Emily Grove, Sophie and Rebecca Arrandale starred for the girls and Alex Emms, Luke Fisher, Ben Robinson and Theo Rodgers for the boys.

Prince Henry's lost 5-3 to Bromsgrove School in the boys' under 19s competition while the girls' equivalent went to Bromsgrove A against Bromsgrove B.

The winners go through to the zone final stage at Wood Green Academy, Wednesbury, in January to meet the best from Birmingham, the Black Country, Buckinghamshire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Oxfordshire and Warwickshire.
