EVESHAM United secured a second Southern League Division One South away win in a row with a 3-1 triumph at Barnstaple Town.

The Robins, who enjoyed a 2-1 victory at Winchester City in midweek, moved into the play-off zone in fourth position as a result ahead of the midweek action.

Cory Simpson replaced injured wide player Adam Page early on for Evesham before a lively final 10 minutes in the first half.

Home keeper Rob Holmes saved well from Stephen Davies on 18 minutes before Andy Hannah denied Steve Holland and Tallan Mitchell at the other end.

But Stephen Reed gave second-from-bottom Barnstaple the lead on 40 minutes with a 25-yard free-kick via the underside of the bar which had been awarded for Hannah’s foul on Holland that earned a yellow card.

However, it was quickly cancelled out in the first minute of first-half injury-time by Kye Simpson who drove home low from the edge of the box after Holmes saved from Davies.

Reed’s deflected ball into the area forced Hannah into a stop early in the second period.

Holmes touched an effort from Evesham substitute Tyrone Tucker-Dixon around the post.

But Tucker-Dixon put the visitors ahead with 15 minutes remaining with a low finish under Holmes after being played in by Jacob Davidge.

Hannah kept the lead intact by stopping another Reed free-kick and holding onto Jack Rice-Lethaby’s glancing header.

And Archie Haskayne sealed victory for Evesham in the second minute of stoppage time with a driven shot from 25 yards.
