A VIDEO analyst has been enlisted to help the promotion prospects at Evesham United.

Richard Joyce, who has done similar work with Forest Green Rovers, Brimscombe & Thrupp and Redditch United, delivered a session when the Robins met for training on Saturday morning.

Manager Paul Collicutt admitted it had been an eye opener for him and many of his United players with more work on revisiting past performances planned.

“It is just a case of us looking at things a bit differently with the help of Richard who is very good at his job,” said Collicutt.

“The lads had a look and it gives you the opportunity to pick up on things whether they be good or bad. It was interesting and the players seemed to take a lot on board.

“The general consensus is that it will be a good thing and I certainly got on board with it. With me being quite old school it was nice to be able to see things where you can direct players to what you want them to do.”

After a blank weekend due to opponents Winchester City being involved in the FA Cup, Evesham return to action courtesy of a rearranged Southern League Division One South clash at Portsmouth-based Moneyfields on Saturday (3pm).

Collicutt’s men were stunned by a 5-1 defeat to the same opponents in the FA Trophy earlier this season and will be without suspended striker Kye Simpson.

There are doubts over Linden Dovey (neck) and Liam Harding (knee) and Nathan Summers could miss out but it is hopes frontrunner Steve Davies will return.

“We are waiting to find out about a few injuries. Linden strained his neck in the last game against Highworth,” added Collicutt.

“Liam hasn’t trained a great deal since that game with his knee being a bit sore but we are hopeful he will be okay.

“Nathan has had a lot going on away from football so we will have to make sure he is okay.

“A bit of illness has swept through the club as well so the time off has helped a few of them get back to feeling a lot healthier than they were.

“It will be a tough game, we know that from the Trophy match and we owe it to ourselves to try to put that one right.”
