WORCESTER'S Old Elizabethans moved off the bottom of Birmingham League Division Three with a seven-run win over Handsworth.

Set a revised target of 225 from 39 overs after OEs registered 251-8 in 50 overs, Handsworth were bowled out for 218.

Jamie Boyle scored 75 as Bevan Brown picked up 3-53.

Brown (84) and Christian Gibbons-Wade (45) set the game up for Handsworth but Khalid Baig (3-32) and Alex Bastable (3-53) earned a welcome victory for OEs.

Marlon Lokenath hit 59 not out as Redditch totalled 193-7 in 42 overs against Lichfield with Tom Stone taking 3-29.

Lichfield finished 12 short on 181-9 with Richard Taylor-Tibbott scoring 56 and Tom Field claiming 3-17.

In pursuit of Pershore’s 215-8 from 42 overs at Rectory Park, Sutton Coldfield were well placed on 134-1 thanks to Tom Eustace (80) and Lee Thomason (50).

But an inspired spell of 7-12 from Matt Brace saw them fold to 170 all out in the Division Two clash.

Chris Miles top scored with 67no for Pershore as Graham Clark claimed 4-29 for Sutton.

Rana Hassan (145no) and Attiq Chishti (58) added 114 for the third wicket to ease Penkridge to 263-4 from 50 overs at Astwood Bank who responded with 213 all out, chasing a revised target of 257 from 47 overs.

Pete Alexander hit 84 for Bank and Nihal Shilar took 5-27 for Penkridge.

Ombersley, who lost by 29 runs to Shrewsbury via DLS, have been sucked into the Premier Division relegation battle and face a big game in the battle for survival against Walsall on Monday.

Apart from Ed Foster (42), none of the Shrewsbury batsmen came to terms with an Ombersley attack led by Ted Bayliss (3-26) in their 159-9.

Faced with a revised target of 150 from 43 overs, Ombersley crashed to 121 all out despite 53 from Josh Haynes.

Tyler Ibbotson (3-5) took the vital wicket of Haynes during a tight spell for Shrewsbury.

Barnt Green defeated fellow strugglers Wolverhampton by six runs via the DLS method.

They moved out of the bottom two at the expense of Dorridge.

The match was reduced to 42 overs per side as Ed Pollock (48) and opener Jamie Harrison (40) saw Green to 219-8.

Faced with a revised target of 227 from 42 overs, a further interruption saw another revision to 199 from 36 overs.

Aneesh Kapil hit 44 for Wolverhampton but 4-35 from Tom Brown pegged them back to 193-8.

Bridgnorth’s four-wicket home victory against Barnards Green lifted them into contention for promotion from Division One after the abandonment of Kidderminster’s game at Leamington.

Kidderminster hold a healthy 33-point lead at the top.

Sam Baugh took 3-17 as Green were dismissed for 137 before a composed 66 from Ian Gregory guided Bridgnorth into third spot despite 4-34 from Phil Harris.

Fourth-placed Oswestry enjoyed a 28-run win over Brockhampton which leaves the Herefordshire side 39 points away from safety.

Warrick Fynn top scored with 47 in an Oswestry total of 192-7 in 50 overs while Alex Hinkley took 4-58.

Brockhampton were all out for 164 including a last-wicket partnership of 52 as Fynn picked up 4-40.

Basement side Wellington were 28-run winners at Bromsgrove.

An unbeaten 39 from Sam Lloyd helped Wellington reach 167-9 from 50 overs after they had slumped to 97-8.

Jack Taylor took 4-20 for Bromsgrove who got to 120-3 before they collapsed to 139 all out.

Once Ryan Pedley (57) and Ashley Newfield (33) were dismissed, Zahid Khan took 4-10 to finish Bromsgrove off.

Leamington reached 144-9 in 36 overs against Kidderminster who had reached 80-5 in 18.3 overs when the match was abandoned.

Chris Steele took 3-13 for Kidderminster who need two more wins from their last four games to ensure promotion.
