EVESHAM United will run the rule over ex-Bristol Rovers attacker Lewis Ellington during tomorrow’s friendly with Bath City (7.45).

The flexible frontrunner had loan spells with Farnborough, Yate Town and Mangotsfield United prior to being released at the end of a professional contract at the end of last season.

He has spent the bulk of pre-season with National South outfit Chippenham Town but with no deal forthcoming, Robins boss Paul Collicutt seized the chance to look at a player who had been on his radar.

“I have known about him for 12 months through various people and I have spoken to Bristol Rovers about him as well," said Collicutt.

“He has been at Chippenham during pre-season and was on the bench on Saturday. They couldn't take him on so the manager called to ask whether I would be interested and if he’s better than what is here then I have to be.

“These next two games against Bath and at Bishop’s Cleeve on Friday will give me the chance to see what he’s all about.”

Ellington will be joined by winger Tyrone Tucker-Dixon who penned terms at the Jubilee Stadium following Sunday’s Worcestershire Senior Cup exit to Redditch United.

“Tyrone impressed me quite a bit, I was pleased to get him signed,” Collicutt added.

“He asked me to

give him a chance and if he keeps playing like he did against Redditch he will do.

“We like the fact he can play on the left, right or through the middle. He is a nice lad who has settled in with the others very well despite only being here for two games.”

Bath arrive in Worcestershire on the back of five wins from six warm-up outings in which Adam Mann, Evesham’s top scorer last season, has bagged four of the 20 pre-season goals his new club has scored.

“They are flying at the moment and it will be a good test for our lads,” said Collicutt.

“It will be nice to see Manny and I know their manager (Jerry Gill) pretty well, I used to go up against him when I played for Trowbridge and he was at Bath in the Conference.

“That was the big derby in Wiltshire. He was a classic case of a player getting into the Football League at a late age.”
