EVESHAM remain third place in Worcestershire League Division One after a 53-run victory at Cookley.

Middle order resistance from Mohammed Fahim Maan (66) and Ali Shan (61) proved key to the win after Evesham who were put in to bat lost several early wickets.

The duo’s partnership and 45 not out from number nine batsman Nasir Mehmood saw the visitors close on 293-9.

Jat Dhadwal led a response from Cookley as he reached 63 before being bowled by Mehmood while Adam Nicholls chipped in with 45 not out.

But the hosts finished on 240-9 to hand Evesham victory as Adnan Sagheer recorded figures of 3-36 and Mehmood, Fahim Maan and Muhammed Saqib all claimed two wickets each.

Evesham host Worcester on Saturday (1pm).

Bredon slipped off the pace in Division Two after crashing to a nine-wicket defeat at Wormelow.

The visitors were bowled out for 108 before Wormelow sealed victory thanks to an unbeaten 70 from Richard Stafford.
