MORETON Rangers boosted their Gloucestershire Northern Senior Football League Division Two promotion hopes with a mid-week win.

They beat Tuffley Rovers Reserves 3-1 with Conor Sherry (2) and Ben Shurmer scoring to pick up from a 2-0 defeat at high-flying rivals Ruardean Hill Rangers.

A 5-0 win over Stroud, with the help of a Sherry double, and 2-0 success at Barnwood lifted their prospects.

Moreton are fifth, five points off second spot with a game in hand, ahead of tonight’s visit to mid-table Viney St Swithins (6.30pm) and Saturday’s home clash with Barnwood (3pm).

Bourton Rovers visit Wotton Rovers on Saturday (3pm) and Hardwicke on Monday (6.30pm).

Third-from-bottom Winchcombe Town picked up a point in their Division One relegation fight, drawing 0-0 with Dursley after losing 3-1 to leaders GalaWilton.
