A 35-year-old man has denied a string of violent offences, including assault and having a metal bar in Worcester city centre.

Alexandru Topoleanu of Cranham Drive, Warndon, Worcester denied all four charges against him when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Wearing a grey suit, he denied using threatening or abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause Stefan Alexe harassment, alarm or distress (section four public order offence) and criminal damage to a Mercedes Vito van belonging to Dominic Vicol during an incident in the city's Upper Tything on April 23 this year.

Topoleanu further denied assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Lucian Beldianu and possession of an offensive weapon (a metal bar) in Foregate Street on May 18 this year.

The prosecution case is that the defendant was observed with a kitchen knife and damaged a vehicle with it during the incident in Upper Tything.

The defendant was represented at the hearing by Gary Harper.

Magistrates declined jurisdiction for the case and granted the defendant unconditional bail to attend a further hearing at Worcester Crown Court on September 9.
