KIDDERMINSTER's household recycling centre is set to reopen today.

The Worcester Road tip will be the last of Worcestershire's recycling centre to reopen from the coronavirus lockdown on Monday, July 27.

Worcestershire County Council said in June there were "particular challenges" with reopening the Kidderminster centre due to the potential for queueing outside.

Councillor Tony Miller, Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member for environment, said: “I’m pleased that we are now in a position where we can re-open Kidderminster Household Recycling Centre.

"The booking system has been put in place to help ensure that people are able to use the site safely and so that we can keep the impact on local businesses and the local road network down to a minimum.

“Please ensure that you make a booking and are aware of the current social distancing restrictions before visiting the site.”

A booking system will be in place on site to help minimise queuing and the impact this will have on the local businesses and surrounding roads.

Bookings must be made prior to visiting the site via the county council website and appointments will be made available to book from today.

Access to the site will not be permitted without a booking and no pedestrian access is allowed.

To book, visit worcestershire.gov.uk/directory_record/5377/kidderminster.

The site will be open from 8am to 5pm, with the last appointment available at 4.45pm.

Strict social distancing measures will be in place, meaning staff will not be able to provide assistance to visitors.

Those who are self-isolating or live with anyone showing Covid-19 symptoms must not visit any of the county's tips.
