COUNTY councillors have put off a decision on whether to grant permission to build a garage to store a private collection of cars in a village near Hereford.

The applicant wants permission for an outbuilding to store cars and change the use of land to the rear of The Hay Meadow in Preston Wynne.

The garage would be designed with a shallow dual pitched roof with a width of about 49 feet, a depth of about 36 ft and a height to the ridge of just over 13 feet.

And the building would have horizontal timber cladding on a red brick plinth and roofed with black insulated panels.

However, Withington group parish council along with 16 residents have objected to the scheme.

They say the development goes against planning policy as it lies outside the settlement boundary.

Parish councillors say there is already a substantial garage on the site.

And if the scheme is approved, they want a condition placed on it to restrict any commercial or business use as locals are concerned about noise pollution.

Herefordshire Council’s planning committee has decided to defer making a decision on the plans.

A site visit will be scheduled for councillors to inform their final decision.
