A HOMELESS charity in Wyre Forest is looking for shops in the area to display one of its new food collection bins after seeing a fall in donations since the coronavirus outbreak.

Local homeless charity HELP has purchased 10 "dump bins" to encourage more people to donate food to help people in need across the district.

St George's Church and Costcutter in Marlpool have already signed up to display two of the bins, and HELP founder Dave Griffin is urging other businesses in the area to get involved.

"It could be a supermarket or it could be a small shop or even an office," said Dave. "We've got eight bins left and we're willing to buy more if it means we can start getting some more donations.

"Our stock levels are quite low at the moment as people seem to have stopped donating.

"We need to keep our food stocks up as we're out three nights a week at the moment feeding people who need our help. We're still doing 60 to 70 meals a night."

HELP is also encouraging businesses and community groups in Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley to donate £50 to fund a night's worth of meals for homeless people in the area.

Dave said: "My business, Quads 'n' Castles, has donated £50 to purchase all the ingredients to cook one night of meals so we were thinking other businesses might like to show some community spirit and do the same."
