REDDITCH Rotary Club has announced their new president as they plan ways to continue their community support amidst the Covid-19 crisis.

New leader Michael Ostroumoff took over from retiring president Derek Dixon at the beginning of the month.

The clubs says Mr Ostroumoff will bring a "wealth of experience to the role, having served as President on two previous occasions," most recently during the year 2012/13.

Redditch Rotary Club aims to help local and international charities through the fellowship and friendship of their members.

During the last year, the club supported Carers Careline, Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra, Worcestershire Acute NHS Hospitals Charity, Severn Freewheelers and the Trussell Trust together with the international charities Shelterbox and Aquabox.

The club also provided a holiday for some Redditch children, whilst others were treated to a visit to the pantomime at the Palace Theatre.

Face to face meetings have not been possible due to the coronavirus lockdown, but members keep in contact via telephone and on-line meetings.

A spokesperson from the club said: "Rotarians, will not be beaten as they look forward to the future and new ways to meet in fellowship and consider how they can continue to support their local community and charities.
"Mike is looking forward to an interesting and successful year ahead."
