BRINTONS Carpets has announced a proposal to cease dyeing yarn at their Kidderminster manufacturing site and consolidate processes into their overseas plants.

As a result, the Kidderminster-based company will enter into a consultation period with production and engineering employees to scale down operations in the town.

Bosses say the proposal will see the reduction in headcount of around 25 full time employees.

Rob Greenfield, Group Manufacturing & Logistics Director said: “The global Coronavirus pandemic has had a significant impact on hospitality demand and we have to face the reality that as a result we need to consolidate our manufacturing operations”.

The company says the proposed changes will ensure they 'continue to safeguard the their longer term interests.'

They have also confirmed Kidderminster will continue to operate warehousing and the distribution of residential carpet to retail partners and will also retain the group’s head office.
