THE CO-OP has re-opened its Henwick Road store three months after closing it due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The retailer says it took the decision to close its Henwick Road store because it had a larger store very nearby.
The closure enabled it to re-deploy colleagues, stock and other resources to keep communities fed amid scenes of panic buying in March.
Amy Guest, Co-op area manager, said: “Mark and the team at Henwick Road are delighted to re-open and to serve customers old and new.
"Throughout the coronavirus crisis, Co-op colleagues continually demonstrated compassion and support for their communities, I am incredibly proud of the way they adapted and responded on the frontline, and the lengths they went to in order to keep spirits high, shelves stocked and communities fed – I believe they really are local heroes.”
The Henwick Road store will now be open from 8am - 8pm daily.
