AN Evesham couple have celebrated their Diamond Wedding anniversary.

Ernest and Eileen Mann celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 25.

After Mr Mann, 81, did his national service he bought a fish and chip shop in the couple’s home town of Wigan, which was their trade for decades.

They had a couple of shops in Lancashire before moving to the Vale in the 1980s and having a shop in Charlton Kings, Cheltenham, in Bewdley Street, Evesham and finally Merstow Green before they retired for health reasons.

The couple were married in 1960 and have five children and 10 grandchildren.

Daughter Claire Hirst said: “Three daughters and children live locally.

“Their son lives in Australia, while the oldest daughter lives in Somerset.

“We had planned a big family celebration but due to COVID-19 we all went over separately, spread over three days and my brother zoomed from Australia.

“Huge highlight for me in recent years was getting tickets to Wimbledon.

“Dad has been a hardcore fan all his life. We got a bit lost in the grounds on the day, but bumped into an official who kindly helped us to Centre Court via champions corridor. Was an incredible day.

“Believe it or not at 80 years of age my mom is on Instagram - ‘the Instagram’ she calls it.

“It’s helped her keep connected with the outside world.

“These two are devoted to each other, their family and their faith.”
