A TOTAL of 41 people with COVID-19 being treated at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley have now died.

Hospital bosses have confirmed 11 new deaths today (Wednesday April 1).

Diane Wake, chief executive of The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust which runs Russells Hall Hospital, said: "Sadly, we can confirm that 41 patients being cared for at our hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, have died. Eleven of those have been announced today."

The patients were aged between 55 and 85-years-old and all 11 patients had underlying health conditions.

Ms Wake added: "Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and friends of those patients at this very difficult and distressing time."
