A SCHOOL has organised a community initiative Eat With Your Street which will start today.

The River School in Worcester has set up the initiative which will start today (Tuesday).

The idea is to build on the Clap For Your Carers experience and encourage people to share a meal together by eating at the same time in sight of each other; for six minutes at 6pm on Tuesday, March 31 March.

The school community would like to see local residents eating their meals at their windows/ balconies/doors, while still staying indoors.

Children are encouraged to wear a party hat which they can create by printing off the template using this link, https://eatwithyourstreet.squarespace.com/

Headteacher Adrian Parsonage said: "Inspired by ‘Clap for our Carers’, and in the spirit of keeping community, a few members of our team came up with the idea of #EatWithYourStreet.

"A world's first "Stay At Home Street Party" we think. Our children, staff and parents at The River School, like most of Worcester, are missing their friends and the social interaction which we are used to. As a result, we thought this might cheer people up and add to the positive message that we are all in this together.

"So, at 6 pm tonight, many of us will sit in our windows, doorways, balconies or gardens and connect with our neighbours, raise a glass, have a laugh and even wear fun hats. We invite everyone in Worcester to join in with us."
