POLICE are monitoring roads and stopping drivers to check whether they are making non-essential journeys.
Police have been patrolling the A470 at Storey Arms and Pen y Fan today and checking if drivers are making essential journeys.
Brecon Roads Policing said they had stopped somebody from Bristol attempting to climb Pen y Fan. The person was given an immediate police direction to ‘go home’.
Police were also checking motorists on the M42 last night making sure they were making essential journeys.
Police have reminded the public that £60 fines can be issued for non-essential travel, doubling on each subsequent offence.
