A VICTIM of ‘severe domestic abuse’ appeared emotional as details of how she assaulted a police officer after drinking heavily were read out in court.

Elizabeth Molineaux had taken six prescription pills on the day that she bit and spat at a PC.

Prosecuting, Ralph Robyns-Landricombe said: “On January 21 officers were called to the defendant’s address for a domestic. No offence was committed. Both parties were separated. Officers were concerned for Molineaux’s mental health due to her threats of self harm.

“An ambulance with paramedics attended due to her erratic behaviour. In the back of the ambulance she caused a great deal of disturbance. At Redditch hospital her behaviour became worse. She was shouting at the public and staff in A&E stating ‘I’m going to rape you’ and ‘I hope you die of cancer.’"

Mr Robyns-Landricombe said: “She was arrested and charged with a public order offence. On the way to the police station the defendant started spitting in the car. She continued to spit at a PC and some of it went in her face. The PC put her hand up to stop spit going in her face and Molineaux then bit the PC's hand.”

The court heard that Molineaux, aged 26, of Summerfield Gardens, Evesham was then abusive at the police station, swearing and calling staff ‘lesbians’.

Defending, Richard Quinn said Molineaux, who pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and using threatening words or behaviour, had been drinking to excess on that occasion and that she had been a victim of “severe” domestic abuse, a matter that is going through the courts.

Mr Quinn said: “That has led her to do something she would not ordinarily do.

“On hearing what she had done, she became visibly upset. She wishes to personally express her remorse through me. She acknowledges that her behaviour was completely unacceptable.”

Mr Quinn said that since the incident, Molineaux, who was pregnant, has suffered a miscarriage.

He said: “She also has ahead of her the traumatic experience of giving evidence against her ex partner in court.

“Life has been very difficult for her but that is no excuse for her behaviour and she doesn’t make any excuses.”

The court heard Molineaux has been getting help from Swanswell to address her drinking.

Molineaux was given a 12-month community order and a curfew for 15 weeks. She must pay a fine of £120 and compensation of £150 with costs of £75 and a victim surcharge of £90.

The case was heard at Worcester Magistrates Court on March 19.
