A SECOND coronavirus patient in Dudley has died, health chiefs have confirmed.

The patient was aged in their 80s and was being treated for underlying health conditions.

A statement from the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust said: “The Trust can confirm that a patient in their 80s being treated for underlying health conditions has died. The patient had tested positive for Covid-19.

“The family has been informed and our condolences and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

“We will not be commenting further and ask that everybody respects the family’s privacy.”

As of 9am on Sunday (March 15) a total of 40,279 people had been tested for the virus, with 1,372 positive cases confirmed, according to the Department of Health and Social Care.

The announcement means two people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died in Dudley, after a patient aged in their 70s died last week.
