A GORNAL mum is once more on a one woman mission to make beautiful Easter bonnets to raise money for her son's rare condition.

Every year Kellie Bates creates intricately designed bonnets for youngsters to wear at their school's bonnet parades

The money raised from the sales of the bonnets is donated to the Williams Syndrome Foundation, in tribute to her son Matthew who lives with the rare condition.

The eight-year-old was born with the rare congenital disorder which is caused by a chromosome abnormality.

The condition occurs randomly and affects around one in 18,000 people in the UK.

Kellie has so far made 180 bonnets since January and will be making them up to Easter, when she will hoping to beat last year's record of 443 creations.

Last year her cracking designs involved 4873 crepe paper flowers, 886 butterflies, 2658 coloured eggs and 11,075 little chicks.

This year's campaign has already got off to a strong start, with Kellie receiving her first transatlantic orders.

She said: "I've had one ordered from Puerto Rico, it's a good job I didn't hand deliver that one."

The talented mum has a selection of more than 100 designs, many featuring popular characters such as Spiderman and Elsa from Frozen.

The designs are also available to buy from Alison's Florists in Old Hill.
