SIR – I would like to congratulate and say a huge thank you to all those communities that have pulled together to combat the recent and ongoing problems caused by the dreadful flooding our area has been subjected to.
It’s heart-warming and humbling to see that in the face of heart-breaking loss, that people unselfishly pull together and demonstrate compassion and empathy to try and help. That includes our fantastic emergency services, whoever they may be.
Such a shame that in sharp contrast we are seeing the ridiculous panic buying caused mainly by the media, and the utter selfish greed accompanying the current undertones of gloom, with no thought for anyone else but themselves.
These people could learn a lot from those mentioned above, don’t you think.
The selfish gene continues to be rampant, but I’m grateful that fortunately there are good and kind people out there.
