TWENTY shops in the city centre have been issued with enforcement action notices after failing to meet fire safety standards.
Hereford and Worcester Fire Rescue Service (HWFRS) has ordered the shop owners carry out improvements to their fire provisions.
Earlier this year the Worcester News revealed there were 37 shops hit with notices, so since then 17 have either carried out improvements to comply, or are assumed to have closed and are no longer listed.

The prohibition notice reads: “If the enforcing authority is of the opinion use of premises involves or will involve a risk to relevant persons so serious that use of the premises ought to be prohibited or restricted, the authority may serve on the responsible person a notice.”
Notices specify what 'gives rise to the risk' and the directions on what should be done to "remedy the matters".
