ECO campaigners will be holding a 'mass unwrap' in Stourbridge this weekend to highlight the fight to reduce single use plastic.

Plastic Free Stourbridge, part of Transition Stourbridge, is holding the event at Tesco Extra in the Crown Centre from midday to 4pm on Saturday February 29.

Individuals and families are invited to take part by shopping and paying as usual and then unwrapping their food and putting straight into their bags, boxes or re-usable containers.

The plastic will then collected up by volunteers and put in empty trollies to show how much waste is generated in a short space of time. The supermarket will then take it away to recycle or dispose of it.

Plastic free campaigners hope the event will help to highlight the level of plastic packaging used in supermarkets and put people-pressure on them to change.
