AN advice centre is up and running at Bewdley Library to support residents affected by floods.

Following the opening of a floods information centre in Tenbury last week, further hubs have been set up for people worst affected by flooding in Bewdley, Worcester and Upton.

Leader of Worcestershire County Council, Councillor Simon Geraghty said: “It has been apparent those affected need practical advice and support.

“Together with Malvern Hills District Council, we’ve moved quickly to set up a Flood Information Hub in Tenbury where people can go to get the information and advice that they need.

"There are staff on site who are able to advise people who have had their homes and businesses flooded.

“The response has been very positive so we are setting up similar information hubs in Worcester, Bewdley and Upton.

"We are basing them in our libraries from where we can access other online services and point people to all of the latest information and advice. We will keep these information hubs open for as long as they are needed.”

In addition to the information hubs, a dedicated flood advice line is available on 01905 845676 and people can email floodadvice@worcestershire.gov.uk for advice.

Flood warnings remain in place in Bewdley and Stourport as the River Severn is set to rise again to up to 5.2m by Wednesday.

The Environment Agency says flooding of property, roads and farmland is possible from 5pm today (Monday).

Flooding is expected to affect Riverside North, including the road to Lickhill Manor and Acacia Avenue, the access road to Lickhill Caravan Park, and Northwood.

Bewdley bridge remains closed to vehicle traffic and temporary barriers have been redeployed at Beales Corner.

Bus services in the area are being diverted. Users are urged to check before they travel.
