A FUNERAL director from Kidderminster will take on a challenging run as he raises funds Cancer Research UK.

Steve Duce, who lives in Broadwaters, is now fundraising for the charity and he prepares to run in the Virgin London Marathon in April.

The 35-year-old is being sponsored by the team at Edwin Harris & Sons Local Independent Funeral Directors where he works.

Steve is currently in "full training" mode, preparing for his run three nights a week.

He previously took part in London Landmarks Half Marathon, the Great Birmingham Run 2019 and will also be taking part in the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run 2020.

Steve says he decided to fundraise for the charity after seeing hundreds of people affected by cancer through his work.

He said: "I’ve been working for a local Independent Funeral Directors for the last 8 years and have seen first hand the hundreds of families that have lost loved ones of all ages to cancer, this is why I wanted to do as much as possible to raise awareness; to support the vital Research needed by Cancer Research UK, a charity that is close to everyone’s heart.

"I did a couple of half marathons last year and I applied for the London Marathon to do it this year.

"I started running about three years ago to lose weight to begin with and I started to enjoy it.

"I'm in full training and fundraising mode at the moment and it's going well."

Steve is also organising a Charity Disco Night at The Gainsborough House Hotel on Friday, April 3.

Tickets for the disco cost £10 and people can purchase them by contacting Steve on 07521291344 or by emailing stevenduce24@gmail.com
