TRADITIONAL, family-friendly show Dick Whittington is taking to the stage in Stourport until February 1.

Monday Night Group, together with Crescents Ballet School, take to the stage for opening night at the Civic Hall tonight (January 24), with the perfect antidote to the January blues.

This year, Dick Whittington arrives in London Town to seek his fame and fortune with the help of his faithful cat Tommy.

Group chairman Sam Maher said: "A traditional, family friendly, brilliant show full of audience participation is guaranteed at the end of this month.

"So boo the baddies and cheer the goodies, sing loudly, laugh hard and, most importantly, go home smiling.

Kidderminster Shuttle:

"This year sees new members taking to the stage who got in touch with the group through social media.

"Come see the show and if you would like to be a part of the magic next year have a chat with one of our members or get in touch via social media."

Since becoming a registered charity in 1981, Monday Night Group has given away in excess of £550,000 to voluntary groups in Wyre Forest which provide services to local residents.

Last year's production of Red Riding Hood raised £28,000, which was distributed to 100 groups in the area.

Director Rachel Bloomer said: "The cast have been working tirelessly to put together a fantastic show.

"Tickets are selling quickly so call your friends and family and get booked in now.

"It's a fabulous fun family pantomime with something for everyone and all for a good cause."
