A FORMER head boy at Crestwood School has won a place to study mechanical engineering at Oxford University.

Jack Parsons, aged 18, has received a conditional offer to study at the prestigious university after achieving a string of top grade GCSE's.

The high-flying teen, who is from Kingswinford, first visited Oxford University through Crestwood’s ‘More Able’ program while in Year 10 and later took part in an engineering scholarship while at the school.

Jack left Crestwood in 2018 to study at Highbridge Sixth Form in Hagley, after he was ranked in the top three achievers in his year group at the Bromley Lane school.

Mr Smith, assistant headteacher at Crestwood and Jack's former Design and Technology teacher, said: "I am absolutely over the moon that Jack has achieved so much, however, I cannot say that I am surprised. I saw first hand the amount of hours, commitment and dedication Jack put in to all of his studies here at Crestwood. This proves that the right attitude coupled with hard work means that anything is possible. We hope that Jack is catalyst for all of our students to go on to dream big and aim for the best university in the world."
