Postal voters are being reminded they can still have their say in the General Election, even if they’ve left it late.

Staff from the elections team at Wychavon has been busy sending out thousands of postal ballot papers to those who have registered to vote that way.

However, those who have yet to get to a post box and are worried about missing out on the chance to make their vote count should not despair.

Completed postal ballot papers can still be handed in on polling day at any polling station around the district that will be operating on Thursday, December 12, between 7am and 10pm.

Alternatively people can hand them in at the Civic Centre in Pershore before 5pm.

Elaine Dicks, electoral services manager for Wychavon, said: “More than 500 staff are involved in ensuring the elections run smoothly and we urge people to turnout and have their say.

“The most important thing is people vote, whoever they vote for.”

Due to the unavailability of some venues due to the festive season some polling stations have changed location.

Voters in Pinvin will need to go to the Coach and Horses pub instead of the Memorial Hall. Residents in parts of Evesham that usually vote at Evesham High School and St Andrew’s Church Hall, will instead need to vote at the Northwick Hotel function room.

Polling station locations are listed on polling cards or people can visit wheredoivote.co.uk and enter their postcode. People do not need their polling card to be able to vote.

Once the poll has closed the ballot boxes will be transferred to the count hall at Pershore Leisure Centre where all votes cast will be verified.

Counting will then begin with a result expected from 2am.
