A MARKET town pulled out all the stops to welcome the Prince of Wales, who met local businesses, voluntary groups and launched a festival.

The streets of Ross-on-Wye were "buzzing" as they were lined by hundreds of people on Tuesday as Charles paid a visit to the town dubbed the birthplace of tourism.
It's thought the first package holiday was made to the Wye Valley after Rev William Gilpin visited Ross and documented the trip with Britain's first tourist guide.

The Gilpin 2020 Festival to mark 250 years since the visit was launched by Prince Charles, who lit a torch to mark the occasion. It later went out amid laughter from the crowd and the Prince.
During the 70-minute visit Charles also spoke to staff and volunteers from local business, charities and community groups.
